Values and beliefs … what makes us who we are
Our values shape not only how we do what we do but also the people we work with and manifest themselves in our behaviours and habits. Words that our clients have used to describe us are
- Authentic – we will “tell you straight” even if it means you don’t want to work with us
- Empathic – our consultants have the PM “scars”, this means our clients feel met and that we can offer smart yet realistic advice
- Humorous – providing an antidote to what can often be self inflicted stress
- Smart – achieving the outcome not always in the most obvious direction
- Reliable – we do what we say we will do
- Challenging – with a belief in being “ruthlessly compassionate” we find ways to raise people out of the stuck and unproductive place of “unconscious incompetence”
We all share a series of beliefs that shape who we are and how we do things, they are:
- Project management is a way of working, not a thing
- Successful project managers exhibit leadership
- Project managers are change managers, if not then they are not working on a project
- Success is subjective
- You don’t have to re-invent the wheel each time - best practice can often be gained from other industries and sectors
- Stakeholders' perceptions matter
