The team prides itself on its ability to quickly understand the challenges and needs of an organisation and provide practical and sustainable solutions. We bring a diverse range of experiences and expertise which collectively provide unique perspectives and forms of support.

We work in collaboration with industry leading consultancies and training organisations, primarily Aspire Europe who are experts in the program management capability assessment and development. We also work with a select group of independent consultants, trainers, mentors and coaches to create teams who can meet the specific needs of clients to deliver optimum results.

Team Animation was set up in 2002 and is led by founder and Director Donnie MacNicol.


Donnie leads consultancy, training, facilitation and mentoring assignments. He specializes in developing an organization’s project leadership capability. Widely recognized as contributing to the ‘people and organizational side’ of project management thinking, he is in much demand as a speaker and writer. He is passionate about delivering value by incorporating the latest behavioural, organisational, cultural and human resources thinking.

Paul is a Charted Director and leads Impaqt Consulting Ltd - a major programmes delivery advisory company. He is one of the few senior PPM advisors to the Cabinet Office and the Treasury and has a similar active role for the United Nations. He has worked for the Ministry of Defence, the Foreign and Commonweatlth Office as well as for Deloitte and Moorhouse Consultancies. His specific PPM skills (MSP, Prince2, PMP, Agile, etc) are supported by his recent Major Projects MSc at Oxford. He has deep practical experience having led some of UK’s largest programmes. He is a Fellow of the Association for Project Management and a Fellow of the Institute of Business Consulting.

Paul has worked with Team Animation since 2010 on a major international client assignment.

Sarah specializes in business change and transformation, helping organizations develop the capacity, capability and readiness to face an increasingly uncertain and ambiguous future. She has extensive experience across multi-nationals, government & medium-sized established businesses & across industry sectors including healthcare, professional services, ICT & financial services. Sarah holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management and is Visiting Senior Fellow at Lincoln University (Organizational Strategy & Business Growth).

Sarah has worked with Team Animation on a range of client assignments and is the co-author of Project Leadership 3rd Edition.

Liz is a leading international consultant who, until early 2015, was  Director of the International Centre of Programme Management at Cranfield University and was previously the Director for their flagship MSc in Programme and Project Management. Liz works on a range of capability development assignments.  In 2014 she was awarded The Organisational Research Society's Stafford Beer medal for "the most outstanding contribution to the philosophy, theory and practice of Information Systems".  Liz is an active member of the Association for Project Management and of a number of international research networks. 
Liz has worked with Team Animation on a range of client assignments and has co-developed the Energised Projects Organisation and associated Diagnostic.

John is an independent project and programme management consultant. A former tax professional, he co-founded the community of practice of 200 fellow professionals at KPMG and created a 20-strong team of dedicated project management professionals servicing a major function of the UK business, developing a distinctive and new service line. John’s passion is knowledge sharing, demonstrated through his focus for over 20 years on the training of fellow professionals, the development of the project management profession and the inclusion of a knowledge sharing element of his client engagements. John is Project Management Institute qualified (PMP) and a is a member of the Association for Project Management (APMP). He is also a Prince2 Practitioner. Specialties include the management of implementation focussed projects primarily in the professional advisory and finance sectors, but has also had experience across a wide range of industries. A particular focus over the years has been on process improvement and outsourcing projects.
John has worked with Team Animation on a range of initiatives, most recently on developing guidance on sponsorship of change.

They are an Accredited Training and Accredited Consulting Organisation with APMG and APM.  They have had a pre-eminent role in the development of UK Government Best Practice over the last 8 years and provided the lead author for the most recent versions of the Cabinet Office products Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®) and Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Maturity Model (P3M3®). Team Animation work in partnership on a range of client assignments and on developing the Academy Suite™.

Prendo develops advanced management simulations that are used by many of the world’s leading organisations and business schools. They provide participants a dynamic management experience in the safety of a simulated environment.
Team Animation use the simulations in their development activities and have co-authored professional body guidance materials.

the Centre for Change Management (C4CM™) is an ILM recognised provider of qualifications in Managing Change. Learning modules cover Change, Project and Programme Management. Our work based qualifications are aligned with the Qualifications & Credit Framework. In particular they deliver the change components of the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership.
